Pet Small Mammals | Note: | Your pet will need to be quarantined for 2 weeks at a government-approved premise. In most cases, this would be your house in Singapore. Hence please do make sure you have made prior arrangement for a permanent place to stay for this purpose, as a local home address will be required for submission of import permit application. |
Requirements: Pre-export check-up Your pet must be examined by a qualified/registered veterinarian and to be certified healthy, free from Rabies and other infectious or contagious diseases and fit for travel. Please note that some of the diseases that need to be certified free from are species-specific (only for a particular type of small mammals). Proof of period of residency in the exporting country Your veterinarian must also certify that your pet has been kept continuously by you since birth or for the past 6 months prior to departure. Treatment for external parasites Treatment for external parasites must be done not less than 4 days and not more than 14 days from the departure date. Application for Import permit An import permit from the Singapore Veterinary Authority is required for each shipment. | Important! | The definition of small mammals in this case includes rabbits, mice, rats, hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs and chinchillas only. Currently except those as defined by the Singapore veterinary authority, any other species of small mammals such as sugar gliders, hedgehogs, jerboas etc. are not allowed to be imported into Singapore (please see our section on IMPORT of other pets). |
