Transshipmen or transiting via bird-flu affected countries is also not permited under the current import regulations. Requirements: Pre-export check-up Your pet bird must be examined by a qualified/registered veterinarian and to be certified healthy, free from bird flu and other infectious or contagious diseases and fit for travel. Pre-export isolation in an approved facility Isolation for a minimum of 21 days in an official animal quarantine station or any government approved-facility in the exporting country must be fulfilled prior to departure. Laboratory testing Laboratory testing for bird flu (avian influenza virus) must be done within the isolation period as mentioned above, yielding negative result. Pre-departure check-up Your pet bird must be examined again on the day of departure and found free from any signs of infectious or contagious diseases. Application for permit/s An import permit from the Singapore Veterinary Authority is required for each shipment. For species of pet birds classified under CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna), additional application for CITES permit must also be submitted. Post-arrival quarantine As Singapore is free from bird flu and the current worldwide situation of bird-flu outbreak is changing from time to time, hence the post-arrival quarantine rule for pet bird is also subject to change.
