As different countries will have its own import requirements for different pets, the info below are just some general guidelines for export. Requirements: Veterinary health certificate This is usually one of the most important documents needed for pet travel. The health certificate for your pet can be issued by any local private veterinarian when you bring your pet for check-up. Since there is currently no government-run veterinary clinic in Singapore, the health certificate obtained from the private veterinarian should be converted to a government certificate or endorsed by the veterinary authority. Countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, South Africa, Japan etc. have their own standardized format of veterinary health certificate that can be filled up by your veterinarian. Endorsement by the government veterinary authority is still necessary. Vaccination Besides the recommended core vaccinations (please refer to the info in our IMPORT section) for cat/dog, other disease of significant in most pets is Rabies. Laboratory testing Certain countries such as Australia, New Zealand and South Africa have quite a comprehensive list of pre-export laboratory tests that need to be done for diseases of significance in your pet. It is therefore advisable to know the specific diseases and the time-frame for laboratory testing prior to export. As some diseases might not show any visible signs in your pet, earliest possible testing within the time-frame given is always recommended. This is because in case of your pet tested positive for certain diseases, an early treatment can be sought promptly to avoid unnecessary delay of your travel. Application for export permit An export permit from the Singapore Veterinary Authority is required for every shipment. Quarantine space reservation If post-arrival quarantine is required, it is always advisable to check the availability in advance as the quarantine space is some countries is limited and always heavily booked.
